Giving Up

When trying to do or get something, how many times would you be ready to try before you give up?

Believe it or not, some people give up before they have even tried.

They give themselves so many reasons why it will not work and, surprise surprise, they do not succeed.

If you try at least once, you give yourself a chance to make it. Otherwise, you have failed even before you have started.

What about having a policy where you give up only after you have tried at least 10 times? What about 100 times?

This is a persistence challenge for you.

Effective Eating

Let me share my recent experience about eating.

I found that if I am not hungry, I don't have to eat just because it's a usual time to eat or some food is in front of me.

The mind will push me to eat, giving so many reasons: it's time to eat, it's maha prasadam, it will be offensive if I don't eat it, others expect me to eat, I need energy, I will not soon get another chance to eat something tasty so I might as well take it, etc.

My body has a natural way of letting me know when it needs food. There is this specific sound in the stomach that lets me know that previously eaten food has been fully digested and that now I can get more fuel for action. That's the time to eat.

If I eat before that, undigested food might turn into poison and create disease.

So I recommend eating only when you are hungry, and your body will let you know.

If the mind and tongue push you to eat, find some way to distract them. Engage them in some meaningful activity like reading aloud or audible mantra meditation.

Eat only when you are hungry and your health might improve. Mine did.
